Daily Mail RBS 2009/10

Daily Mail Schools’ becomes Daily Mail RBS Schools’
The Daily Mail, sponsors of the Daily Mail Schools Knock Out Competitions have the perfect new sponsor and partner in RBS who have signed up to support this successful Schoolboy contest.
The England Rugby Football Schools Union Knock Out Competitions will now become the Daily Mail RBS Schools’ Knock Out Competitions.
RBS who have backed the Six Nations tournament for the past six years commented, 'RBS are excited to be involved in these great tournaments,' (said David Webb, Head of Group Sponsorship). 'They have an impressive heritage and a proven track record of helping to produce top class players, as well as providing so many benefits to everyone involved at all levels’. 'We hope to make them even better and look forward to helping rugby reach more young people than ever.'
The ERFSU and RFU are looking forward to working along side RBS with the Knock Out Competitions and envisages a relationship that is prosperous for Schoolboy Rugby at all levels of the game.

In line with the RFU communication policy introduced this season, we will keep postal send outs to a minimum (which given the postal strikes last autumn is probably a good thing). Therefore please ensure that any email address supplied is operational and will be checked on a regular basis.
Please see the below table which details the round dates for the 2009/2010 seasons Daily Mail RBS Schools Competition.
Participating schools are reminded that these dates must be adhered to, you have from the Monday through to the Sunday of the regulated week to play the fixture and only in exceptional circumstances will the Organising Committee allow a match to be played outside the regulated week. Please build these round dates into your fixtures for the 2009/2010 season.
Scheduling matches outside the regulated week can be detrimental not only to the competition but also to other fixtures in the structured season (e.g. county matches). Changes for 2009/2010
As you can no doubt imagine England Rugby Football Schools Union (ERFSU) takes the management of the Daily Mail RBS cup competitions very seriously and is continuously considering ways in which to improve the experiencefor all our key stakeholders – player, teachers, coaches, supporters and sponsor. Please see the Daily Mail RBS Schools Competition Regulations 2009 2010, available in due course on the link at the end of the webpage.
The Ethos of
Last Season we were compelled to write about the spectator behaviour during the Daily Mail RBS Schools Semi Finals and Finals. Although the level of behaviour at these events improved this season I must urge everyone involved with Rugby to stay vigilant against all behaviour that detracts from the ethos of Rugby. For those with any association in the sport or rugby football, two of the key values we treasure are mutual respect and self-discipline. Regrettably there's a growing tendency among the supporters from schools to disregard these values by jeering and whistling during attempts at goal. Whilst this may seem a somewhat petty point on which to focus, if we allow this trend to continue unchecked we will quickly lose the very sporting ethos that marks the game out from other sports. Therefore we again would like to make this plea to all schools that you do your utmost to instil into your pupils the essence of mutual respect and self-discipline that for so long has been associated with the game so that those who feel the urge to put their opponents by whistling and jeering are ostracised by their colleagues.
