RFU Sports First Aid Course

The RFU has joined forces with lifesaving specialists in the sports and leisure sectors (STA) and Mobilis Healthcare to launch a newly developed first aid qualification for rugby coaches and volunteers.
The six hour course, with continuous assessment of practical skills and a worksheet test of theoretical knowledge, leads to the RFU Sports First Aid Appointed Person Award.
You will learn how to treat:
- Concussion
- Breaks and sprains
- Blows and cuts to the head or body
Delegates will also learn how to carry out a range of first aid activities in a safe manner such as cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid for those that are unconscious.
The RFU Sports First Aid Course is a fully recognised First Aid Appointed Person Award, valid for three years and easily revalidated.
Organised for the RFU by the STA the course can be easily arranged at a local venue during weekdays, evenings, or weekends.
How to Book:
- Clubs or individuals can simply contact your local Rugby Development Officer (RDO) or Constituent Body Welfare Officer to request a course
- They will book the course, venue and tutor and inform you of the booking reference. (Please allow a minimum of 28 days to book a course)
- A nominated course organiser (this could be your RDO or a member of the club needs to download and complete a registration form (Word document or PDF) with this reference and return with payment
- After successful completion of the course, award certificates will be dispatched to individuals by the STA.
Cost - Registration fees of £50 per person (payable to the STA) includes training manual, certificate, tutor and first aid training kit. There are a number of sponsored places available courtesy of Mobilis Healthcare - the availability of these will be advised when booking the course. If a club registers 12 people on a course, they will also receive a £50 Mobilis voucher.
Tutor : Student ratio - Maximum permitted 1 : 16
Tutors - There are 500 tutors nationwide, who are on the approved STA Tutors List. All tutors have undertaken STA approved training in order to professionally deliver first aid courses.
