In all 64 teams of Year 5 and 6 children took part in the two finals days - the climax to the country's biggest Tag festival following 35 tournaments staged throughout Kent in the last three months.
All the schools represented a country at the finals, producing banners and fancy dress costumes. T he Steel Band from Ilderton Primary School, Southwark, played on both days adding a party atmosphere to the occasion.
Tag Rugby introduces children aged from seven to 11 to rugby union and the game can be used to meet a number of national curriculum requirements.
Kent Rugby Development Officer Matt Mitchell said: "The sport teaches players to catch, pass and to look for space. Above all it is a lot of fun, but the tag rugby players of today are the Rugby World Cup internationals of the future.
"This programme is coordinated by Kent RFU and Kent County Council's Sports Development Unit, and has become an important competition in the county"s primary school calendar."
