I have been playing Rugby Union now for 7 years and I am looking at moving onto a coaching role. Can I go straight to Level Two?

They must have been coaching for a minimum 5 years in the 15 aside game and at a high standard.  There should also be evidence of some CPD having been attended. The final decision will be that of the Coach Development Officer.

Otherwise, you will need to complete the Level One Course and demonstrate attendance at CPD courses prior to submitting a level 2 application.

Alternatively, if you excel on the Level One course you may move onto Level 2 within six months. Otherwise, you should allow a minimum one year with coaching in between before applying for Level 2.

Do I really need to go on the induction evening? Yes, you must attend the induction evening to fulfil the learning hours for the course and attain competence at level 1.
What times do your courses start and finish?

Usually the induction evening will start at 18:45 hours and finish at about 21:45 hours.

The practical sessions usually start at 09:00 hours and finish at about 17:00 hours.

However these timings will be confirmed in your joining instructions nearer the time of the course you are attending.

Can I attend an induction evening at one venue and the practical sessions at another? No, unless they are extenuating circumstances.
I recently attended a Level One course and didn’t quite do enough to be deemed competent. What must I do to attain competence at level 1?

In the first instance refer to your action plan and course transcript from the course. These will identify areas for you to develop prior to attending another part of the course. When you feel you are in a position to demonstrate competence please liaise with the administrator mattknight@rfu.com who will book you onto the relevant part of an up and coming course.

This will be at no extra charge!

When I have completed the course, do I get a Certificate?

Yes, when you have successfully completed the course, your certificate will be sent by 1st4sport

Within 6 – 8 weeks. If you have not received your certificate within this time frame, please contact the administrator mattknight@rfu.com

I have lost my certificate; can I have another one, please? Yes but there is a charge of £11.75
